Completed in 1884, the Supreme Court of Victoria is an appropriately imposing Tasmanian freestone building on the corner of Lonsdale and William Streets whose shallow dome supported by 24 Ionic columns has long been a distinguished Melbourne CBD landmark.

LU Simon has been appointed by the Department of Justice to manage a massive 5-stage redevelopment project to ensure the building is a state-of-the-art facility retaining its historic appeal while able to meet the demands of the 21st Century.

With a hard-earned reputation for our expert involvement in the preservation and restoration of some of the nation’s most significant heritage buildings, Higgins Coatings was selected as the painting contractor with Stage One commencing in early-2006.

Working closely with heritage architects, the Higgins’ team including John Micallef, Richard McCarthy and Troy Clark began the project inside the ornate Banco Court accessing towering ceilings for preparation and painting via scaffolding and applying a traditional colour scheme to all surfaces including intricate original plasterwork.
