The Sydney Fish Market
The biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sydney Fish Market deals with around 50 tonnes and 100 species of seafood every day with only Japan ahead at an international level.
Situated on Pyrmont’s Blackwattle Bay offering great views of the harbour, the market is not only a major source for seafood hungry Sydneysiders, it’s a mecca for visitors seeking a cooking class or culinary experience.
With all of that fish and all of those footprints, keeping the site clean and fresh is absolutely paramount which is why Higgins Coatings were called upon to repaint the entire area both inside and out.
Racing against the Dutch auction clocks displayed on huge screens before a massive crowd bidding fervently from about 5.30 every morning; Higgins successfully completed the project in two stages of a few months each ensuring all issues regarding environmental protection and OH&S were meticulously addressed.
Operating day and night, the complex project required careful planning and involved daily client liaison and weekly meetings. The Sydney Fish Market is now looking as fresh and vibrant as the fabulous variety of its delicious seafood.
