Port Side Perfection

A showpiece of modern Art Deco-inspired architecture located in the immediate environs of Higgins Coatings head office in Port Melbourne, Port Side Apartments had been buffeted by the bay’s wild weather for over 10 years and was well overdue for rejuvenation.

A logistical challenge for Higgins Supervisor Graham Dixon, careful planning and coordination was critical to make the project work and involved close liaising with Port Phillip Council, the client and a league of concerned residents.

The painting process also posed numerous challenges to the team of 10 with the 7-storey exterior not offering too many straight edges, plenty of repair required to rusted sections, abseilers and massive booms employed to cover all areas and OH&S playing a significant role. Ultimately, the finish was perfect and everyone was happy!
